A guide to dining in hell? - forums.totalwar.org
But beef cattle were also used, and no doubt generously issued, and the foragers and countrymen brought into camp fresh fruits and vegetables whenever the season warranted. The cavalryman received thrice as much, for himself and two servants, besides forage for three horses. The allies received somewhat less. This corn the men carried, and ground in handmills, and made into the usual cake or ...
How does bribery work? (Not sure what forum this belongs in) - Totalwar
Not sure if this varies with the difficultysetting but playing the game on Very Hard for the campaign map bribing even the smallest army led by a mediocre rebel captain will usually cost at least 10 000 denari. This cost probably varies with patches and settings, and I recall bribing being much easier and cheaper in version 1.0 for instance.----
Slaves resource [Archive] - The Org - Totalwar
- The pop. growth bonus from slave happens in all enslaved cities, but not necessarily happens in cities that receive the slave. I have one edge little town that I want to beef up to pop. 2000, so I sat a governer in when enslavement occurs. It never received any slave pop. growth bonus despite 1000+ pop. was distributed to that town.
It's just not fun to be in constant war all the time
I guess my big beef is that I was led to believe that the game had more depth than "play-for-20-turns-then-everyone-attacks-you-with-no-explanation" type gameplay that's been done over and over again. I guess I'll just have to wait for Civ5 to play a game that lets me play via trade or tech or something other than the beaten-to-death "go for a while, oh someone small declares war, oh that ...
Absurdly weak Carthage!!!
I started a campaign as Carthage and was annoyed at how weak they really were.Someone had a thread going here last week about this and i admit i scoffed at what i thought of as their inability to "deal" with a tough campaign.Boy was i wrong.Caralis has changed hands now 4/5 times with the Scipii currently holding it.I hold all of Sicily now but to be honest i have lost more troops on that ...
Flaming Ammunition?
As I recall from a thread, walls doesnt do anything for public order. And flaming arrows, should be more effective against elephants and cavalry I seem to have read elsewhere. Plus, whenever I got elephants (Seleucids, carthage, parthia) and the enemy has archers, the enemy AI uses flaming arrows against my elephants.
"How to Use Horse Archers" in Rome: Total War
[FF]Louis-Ste-Simurgh and I tried cav archers against normal infantry archers a few days before we started our phalanx tests. Circle does make a huge difference; it tires the horses out faster but makes them very hard to hit indeed. I don't recall the exact numbers, but the difference was both significant and unmistakeable.
